My interest in photography began way back in high school art class when I borrowed my Dad's old 35mm film camera and learned to develop black and white film in the dark room. It was fascinating to watch an image I made develop right there in front of me on a blank piece of paper. After high school, my boyfriend (now hubby) bought me a Minolta X-700 film camera and I was hooked all over again.
Like many photographers, the birth of my children and the introduction of digital technology were instrumental in taking that interest and turning it into this amazing passion that I have for creating images. The instant gratification that comes from seeing your image on that tiny screen, and then taking it into photoshop and completing your vision became absolutely intoxicating. My kids, however, were a bit less than thrilled with my new pursuit, and I had to look outside the family for subjects to photograph. I studied everything I could get my hands on, learning to control not only my camera, but the light that is at the heart of EVERY image - both natural and artificial. I joined an online photography community where I met my amazing "second family", the very women with whom I am blessed to share this crazy journey - the Pixel Chicks! Years later I find myself with a nice little photography business that helps to feed my family and my soul, and I am eternally grateful. :)
